Tegan Atkins (she/her) is an emerging journalist & novelist currently based in Naarm, whose writing explores the human rights of all, in particular women and children. Her investigative and interviewing approach is to lead with compassion, be fearless, brave, truthful, and without favour or bias.

Born in Bundaberg on the lands of the Taribelang Bunda people, at seventeen she moved to Magandjin. She graduated with a Bachelor of Journalism (majoring in Journalism) from Queensland University of Technology in 2016. Her internship work experience was completed at QUT News, ABC, The Courier Mail, Style Magazines and in Auckland, New Zealand at The NZ Herald, Newstalk ZB & North Harbour News and Orewa Times. She has experience reporting in print, online, radio and television.

Tegan is committed to supporting the writers community in Australia by working at Writers Victoria in the Wheeler Centre, State Library Victoria and volunteering as a workshop coordinator for creative writing workshops.

Currently working on a novel about a climate emergency responder who returns to her hometown during a devastating flooding event and includes themes of childhood trauma, climate change, love and friendship.
